october happenings

this month is almost over!!!
BUT, i am SO excited!
i love november and december!
i love thanksgiving and christmas and just spending time with our family.
here's a recap of what we did during october....

spent alot of time at the park.
this particular one is in Logan.
it was built in honor of a young boy who passed away.
the community came together and donated time and materials to build this amazing place.

got ave's 18 month pictures taken.
we can't wait to share them!
(can you tell she is SO excited to go?)

spent LOTS of time at the zoo.
avery is in a phase of showing her "loves" to everything.
yes, she is kissing & hugging the rhino AND hugging the lions.
too cute!
plus, she is absolutely obsessed with the train and carousel.
(sometimes we go 2x's each trip!)

put training wheels on ave's bike!

ave had her first Halloween dress up party with her buddies!

Grace Woods and Avery

Greyson Bills and Audrey. (sad, i don't know her last name.)

saw Tinkerbell herself!

love this little fairy of ours!

had a family pumpkin carving party.
ave even drew on hers!

we hope you all have a Happy and Safe Halloween!!

-OBSESSED with showering. (Not bathing.) We make sure one of us is in there with her.
-LOVES reading books for hours on end!

-HATES Kindermusik! (Sad Face!) From the moment we get there until the moment we leave, she is antsy to get out!

heritage center

i had so much fun with ave at the heritage center, we decided to invite some friends to join us for an afternoon.
emily and her darling daughter grace met us there and we had a blast letting the kids explore.

we let them play in a kiddie's corn maze. (which they found their way through the first time!)
they played on a pirate's ship made of hay bales.
we escaped the rain in a barn. (these two worker's even turned on a disney movie for the girls!!)
then, we let the girls walk and play with the animals that were around.
they had goats, sheep, chickens and horses.
it was so much fun!
thanks Em and Grace!

avery wanted to hold grace's hand SO bad!

she even tried to sneak in a hug!

steering the pirate ship.

cute Emily and darling Grace.

posing for her snapshot!

i just LOVE this girl!!!

letting the goats lick their hands.

ave never gets to be around horses and she was SO happy!

the fun meter ran out. can you tell?

they had the cutest train, but it wasn't running this time.

corn maze

in logan, there are limited things to do up here.
i finally took the family to the heritage center for a fun corn maze.
this was both nick and i's first corn maze. ever.
we went a little late and got REALLY lost.
someone got REALLY frustrated.
we had no idea there was a map at the entrance. (oops!)
we finally had to call it quits because it was pitch black and an hour past ave's bedtime!
next time we'll be better prepared. (flashlight included.)
it was still so much fun!

oktoberfest 2010

we finally made it to Oktoberfest at Snowbird this year!
we have been wanting to go for soooo long and we are so glad we finally made it!
we went two days in a row because we had such a blast.
not only do they have yummy beer and brats, they have REAL german desserts, music and festivities.
we let ave bounce in the bounce house a billion times and let her try to follow all of the older kids up the inflatable slide. (she only made it up once, but it was a fight for her to get her tiny self up there!)
we tried to go down the alpine slide, but the lines were over an hour wait!
we took the tram up to the top of Snowbird and it was breathtaking!!!

i highly recommend going. even with your children!
we can't wait until next year!

our beautiful midge

my two loves

.18. months old (really?)

oh man!
our baby is now 18 months old!
and officially starting her terrible terrific two's (early)!

we may keep posting until she is two. we may not. we will have to see!

avery is in another stage of teething! i think her molars are coming in. the only way i can try to empathize with her, is to remember how badly it hurt when my wisdom teeth kept going up and down.
she is having a hard time sleeping at night.
she moans and whimpers, but is still asleep.
i usually just let her be because if i go into her room, then i really wake her up.

we have also hit the dreadede temper tantrum stage!
this is one of my least favorite stages!
avery is one great drama queen! if she doesn't get her way, she will let you know by either:

1. screaming a VERY loud HIGH pitched scream.
2. collapse to the ground ever so dramatically.
3. or cry, scream AND fall to the ground.

how, and i am asking, HOW do toddlers know this behavior?
i usually just laugh at her because it is pretty funny, but somedays it really pushes my buttons.

avery is also a PINCHER and HITTER!
we have surpassed the BITING phase, thank god!
now if we could only fix these two things.
people have told me to pinch or hit her back. uhm, this only makes her more mad!
SOOOO....i have to flick her. not hard, but hard enough to grab her attention. this usually hurts her feelings and makes her cry. it makes me feel so bad but i am seriously at a loss on what to do!
if flicking doesn't work, i pretend to cry!
she usually gets pretty concerned and tries to jabber something to me.

can't get enough of the park

big girl swing!

ave and her beebee's

walking with her daddy

ave's favorite activities are:
- the park
- sesame street
- eating
- bath time
- the zoo
- discovery gateway
- being outside
- reading books
- helping mommy
- hanging out with daddy (she is the world's biggest daddy's girl!)

and she is OBSESSED with Shrek!!!!!

ave is actually a great listener. sure she has her moments of selective hearing. (don't we all?) but she comprehends what i am saying and will follow direction really well.
she loves to try and pick out outfits to wear, pick out her jammies, find her shoes, find her woobie, get her sippy cup, take care if her baby, help shut the dishwasher & fridge doors, help with the laundry (by putting things in and taking things out.)....i think she loves that i will ask her to do things because she ALWAYS gets praise afterwards. we usually give her hugs or kisses, but sometimes she like getting knuckles or her nemo gummy snacks as rewards too!

this is the only picture i could get of ave at the dr's.
she was too worried about playing with all of the toys!

we had her 18 month appointentment and she got three shots.
one of which was the flu shot.
i decided to have her pediatrician give me the flu shot at the same time.
OWIE!!! i forgot how bad shots hurt,
sorry midge!!

avery is now:

23.61 pounds (30%)
34 inches tall (above 95%)
18 inch head measurment (40%)
the impression of her feet is pretty funny.
she has HUGE feet!!
in fact she is almost a size 6 in toddlers shoes!! (ski's like her momma!)

we sure do love you midge!
