Avery's 6 Month Check Up

Well today was the day...to get more shots! I asked the doc so many questions, he probably was a little tired after answering them all.

I have been contemplating on whether to give Miss Ave a flu shot AND the new swine flu shot. After discussing with Nick, we went for it. Well...just the normal flu shot. The swine flu shot is not available for another month. Nick and I both get pretty sick off the flu shot, but we figured we would be doing it to Ave under a controlled environment. Wish us luck! (That was alot! Whew!)

Avery is growing like a weed. Her head measured in at 16.26" (25th Percentile), she is 27" long (85th Percentile) and is 16 Pounds (60th Percentile). She is long and skinny AND has long feet too! We wouldn't have it any other way. She is very advanced for her age. The doc was very pleased that she was already sitting on her own. She tried grabbing at him to pull herself up to a standing position. (Show off...just like her daddy!)

She did pretty well with her shots. They gave her three all at once and forgot that we were getting a flu shot. So, poor Ave had to get pricked again. OF COURSE we brought the camera. She cried for a bit, but once she saw the camera, she started to calm down. We now wait and see how she fares with the flu. If she does well, then we go in in another month for the 2nd dose of the flu shot.

We now get to officially start on Stage 2 Foods!! Also, we get to try oatmeal and multi grain cereals. We also get to start trying adult fruits, veggies and breads. So strange. Our baby is growing up so quickly!

Good job today Ave. I cry when I get shots, so you must have gotten that from me. (As I type, she is jumping away in her jumper telling stories.)

Poor Aver's

All better! Daddy surprised Ave with her very own NY Yankees hat. She was HAPPY!

This is how I now find Avery sleeping. It scare the bajeebus out of me. I hardly sleep a wink now. She loves her new sleeping position though!

Happy Half Birthday Avery!

Today, Avery is 6 months old. It seems like yesterday that we were rushing to the hospital in the middle of the night, tears streaming down my face with every contraction that hit and not being sure on what was about to happen.

Little Avery has changed our lives tremendously. She has opened our eyes to what life is all about, what the world has to offer and how to still live life like a child. She is the most precious thing in our life. Our life revolves around this little 15 pound of joy and we wouldn't have it any other way!

I was going through our thousands of pictures last night (literally....we have THOUSANDS!!) looking at how much our little one keeps changing. She gets more beautiful every day. Her personality keeps getting brighter and more fun, she smiles so much more, she laughs so much more and she gets excited at the most random things.

The day before you were born.

Here are some pictures from the past 6 months:

ONE MONTH OLD
You were smiling at FOUR weeks old. I didn't realize it until I looked at the time stamp!

TWO MONTHS OLD

THREE MONTHS OLD

FOUR MONTHS OLD

FIVE MONTHS OLD

SIX MONTHS OLD
Here are some of the things you have accomplished:
-We have moved on to Stage 2 fruits! You would eat two servings of fruit each time, so we upgraded!
-You still hate veggies! This is one we will keep battling!
-You are now sleeping 11-12 hours a night! (Mommy still checks on you 3-4 times still.)
-You LOVE sleeping on your belly now! It scares mommy, but you don't want to be moved.
-You are a wiggle worm. Whether it's being fed, bathed, changed...you are always on the move!
-You sit up all by yourself! You seem to love the new found independence.
-You like grass for about 10 minutes, then you are tired of it.
-You love to swing on the big girl swing! You giggle so much and grin from ear to ear.
-When mommy asks you for a kiss, you lean in. You understand what I am saying. I love it!
-You tease Monte! You jump in your jumper and make the mirror reflect on the wall...which makes Bubba jump. It makes you squeal, so you keep doing it. Priceless!!
-You are a champ in the car and love to tell us stories.
-You love bath time and now sit in your Bumbo in the tub. We let you play with rubber letters, your favorite toys now.
-You have now been on 4 plane rides!
-You have been to Cali twice.
-You LOVE the ocean and sand!
-You love kids and watch them so intently. I know you want to run and play.
-You are SO close to crawling!!!
-You try to climb out of your crib now. Again, it scares your mommy!
-You are trying to drink out of sippy cups.
-You are the most BEAUTIFUL little girl I have ever seen!
We love you Aver's!! We can't wait to see what the next 6 months will bring us.
Happy Half Birthday!!
Love, Mommy and Poppa!

Happy 20th Birthday Smash!!

Happy 20TH Birthday Smash!!!

My little sister turned 20 yesterday! Yikes, where did the time go? I was gone to college while she was growing up and maturing, so I feel like I missed some of the most crucial times in her life. But, I definitelty have some fond memories of her when she was little.

I remember her as a little girl like it was yesterday. I used to torture her and make her let me play with her hair all the time growing up. I thought I wanted to be a hair stylist, so I would NEVER let Ashley out of the house unless her hair was perfect. She used to scream and get so mad at me. BUT, her hair always looked so dang cute. ;-)

I also remember watching her dance in her first dance recital at Tracy's Dance Academy. She was SO cute in a little tutu trying to tap dance. I hope this memory never fades. She was adorable on that BIG stage and she was only THREE!

Ash once dressed up as Ariel from The Little Mermaid and danced around the house. I think she was three at the time also. You were so cute and innocent. (WOW! Nothing has changed!)

I loved going to Ashley's cheer and dance competitions/recitals. You are such a beautiful and graceful dancer. You would give me chills just watching you. It came so naturally for you. I hope you never give that talent up!

I also remember when my dad lived in Draper in a house with a circular drive-way. Ash would ride our little moto-ped scooter around & around & around (did I mention AROUND?) the drive-way for what seemed like FOREVER! I once had to yell for her to stop because I just got back from dance and had been up since 5:30 AM. She politely stopped, then proceeded to go around & around & AROUND that dang drive way bouncing a basketball. Looking back, it is SO funny! At the time, not so much!

I loved having Ash around in Logan while I was prego. We would go Thursday night shopping, grab dinner, then watch Grey's Anatomy and ER. She was always game for a shake from La Beau's also!!! Her fave was Strawberry Cheesecake, mine was mint oreo. I think we had one atleast 3 times a week. It rocked. She was so supportive while I was prego! I will never forget the times you would let me just cry, because I needed to.

Ash, you are the best sister anyone could ask for! You have become my best friend and Nick and I are SO proud of you! You have stayed true to yourself and would do anything for your family and friends. We love you so much and appreciate everything you have done for us. We hope you had a happy 20th birthday!!!

She couldn't blow out 6 candles. A sure sign...You are getting OLD!!

2009 Official "Adult Night"

Our dear friends Sean and Erika threw us an "Adult Night" the weekend before our wedding. Since we had both "been there...done that" with bachelor/bachelorette parties before, we just had a little gathering. It was so much fun! Thank you Sean and Erika for throwing us a FAB party. We love you guys!!

We started the night off at Settebello. It is a Napolean pizza place downtown. It's the closest thing to the "real" pizza you would get in Italy. My fave! After, we headed to Keys on Main. It's a piano bar, just like the Tavernacle but with an older more mature crowd. Not many college students go there, so we didn't feel too aged while we were there. ;-) The night ended with us staying at The Hilton downtown. YES, we left the babe at home with Aunt Lindsay. Thank you Linds for being such a wonderful Auntie! Ave told me she had SO much fun!!!

Here are some pic's from the night. We were all a little camera happy there. Thank goodness we were tucked away in the back. We probably looked like paparazzi, due to the amount of flashes that were going on!

Good Luck tomorrow Nicholas!

Tomorrow Nick is entering a Cross Fit competition in Park City. It is called a "Fight Gone Bad". Basically, you go through 15 minutes of hell to see what your body can endure. It's a charity benefit for the fight against Prostate Cancer. I am so proud of you Peanut. You'll do great!

Love you handsome!

Look what Avery learned how to do yesterday...

She is sitting up all by herself!!

Good Job Little Monkey! You are growing up way TOO fast!

Yup, I went outside of the box and let Miss Aver's play on the big girl swing! She loved it! This might become a daily treat until the weather changes.
